the website of artist/illustrator rad radburn

On this website I hope you'll enjoy the variety of different drawings and paintings I have worked on over the years. I love telling stories through images and using humour to really make an idea shine.

Having worked to various briefs ranging from cyclist safety manuals to motivational school projects, there is always room for a fresh perspective with every job.

Always wanting to represent a more human angle in my work I prefer practical approaches over digital. Mining the humanity of a situation whether it be in a child's bed time story or an instruction pamphlet is what I believe good illustration is all about.

I am available for commissions and long form illustrative work. My style is flexible and always comes with a commitment to good storytelling.

I'm devoting this area of the site to the experimental pieces where I enjoy playing with form. Taking ideas in new directions and challenging the way an image is communicated.

Through continued experimentation I keep my passion for art alive whilst contributing new approaches to more conventional illustrative work. I find abstract work to be challenging, thought provoking, and most of all, fun!

With portraiture I enjoy the exciting fine line of a piece being either right or wrong. Creating likeness through facial spacing and the finding and capturing of a recognisable essence. What can transform a person into an image?

I welcome commissions primarily in pencil or acrylic. Email the address below and I will happily discuss your ideas.
